Gilding - Decorative Gilded Finishes

The Decorative Gilded Finishes class teaches traditional and contemporary gilding methods of applying metal leaf (both non-precious and precious), patinating metals and producing decorative finishes.

Over 30 samples are completed in class. Students explore tools and materials, surface preparation, matt gilding, gilding on carved decorative moldings, chemical and decorative patination, textured and distressed metals and "broken leaf" finishes also known as schaibin. These brilliant finishes can be applied to small residential projects and large commercial surfaces such as walls, ceilings and domes.
