Graining: The Art of Faux Bois

The art of graining or "faux bois" combines traditional graining techniques with modern materials.

All of the elements necessary to render both realistic imitations and stylized interpretations are covered, such as the analysis of wood structure, layering, accurate grain pattern, choosing base coat, glaze colors, and tool options.

Each of the samples is a simulation of realistically constructed solid wood or veneer panels including: mahogany, burl, cherry, walnut, oak, rosewood, macassar ebony and satinwood.
