Update Weekend
March 19-20, 2005 exclusively for students of The Finishing
School.
We are
honored to announce the founders of The Finishing
School, and the authors of Professional
Painted Finishes, Ina Brosseau Marx, Allen
Marx, and Robert Marx will be in attendance at
our Update Weekend March 19-20. Ina and Allen
will give a presentation on architectural, furniture,
and object graining restoration drawn from their
upcoming book Furniture Restoration for
Everyone: A Common Sense Guide to Professional
Techniques. The opportunity to learn from
these masters should not be missed, and we deeply
appreciate their support of our Atlanta program.
To compliment the Marx's
lecture, Sean Crosby will be demonstrating modern
methods of faux bois. Walnut Burl is on tap, but
those of you who know Sean, know there is so much
more in store as well. |

abound this Update Weekend, all complete with step-by-steps
notes and color photography:

One more finish will be demonstrated
to launch our new program at our student's request:
"Fabulous Finish Kits", a quarterly way for
you to make new and exciting finishes for your portfolio
economically. On Sunday, expect to make one special
little finish to add to your bag of tricks!
A visual walkthrough of our new
on-line Forum will include all search features and registration
steps for those of you who have yet to join us there.
What a terrific resource this had turned out to be for
our students, and what fantastic participation!

Fauxcademy
Awards 2004 |
Three students
of The Finishing School claimed top honors at
this year's Fauxcademy Awards in Las Vegas. Kass
Wilson of Atlanta, GA, took top honor in the Faux
Bois, Level II category. Debi Vaninger, a Springfield,
Illinois resident, went home with the 1st place
award for Most Creative Use of a Faux or Decorative
Finish. And Elena Makievsky, another Atlanta,
GA, resident won the Silver award in the Faux
Marble, Level II category.
